With less than a week left until our departure to Cambodia, we’re full of mixed emotions about the trip and what we’re getting ourselves into. It still hasn’t exactly hit either of us that we’re actually going, but we both know its coming.

(Lamia: ) I’m more excited about this trip than any other emotion. I’m ready and I want to start this experience because I know (or at least I hope) that I will learn a lot from the people I work with (everyone: the other participants, the Rustic Pathways staff, the NGO’s we meet, but primarily the Cambodian people we will be with). If not excited, I might also be a little bit nervous, not for the spider-eating or the culture change or anything like that, but more so just anxious that everyone will get along with each other and really work together to bring sustainable change. As cool as the trip would still be, if we don’t accomplish anything significant together, for the Cambodian community, the purpose of it is destroyed.

(Tas: ) Personally, I am also very excited for this new experience to come. As anxious as I may be about all the changes, I hope that I will be able to be useful to the people of the communities in which we will work. I just hope that all of us going on the trip will be able to come together and use our different backgrounds and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of the Cambodian people we will be working with. I just can’t wait to go!

Time to buy the items we need, get our things together and head off to Cambodia!
